Incorporating recycle into science.
How our plants grow.
We made a calendar of how our plants grew and what they needed. We used milk cartoons to promote recycle.

Math is fun!

Mathematics + Art
For one of our math lessons on gallons, quarts, pints, and cups, we made a Gallon Man or a Gallon Lady. The children were very excited to create them. I liked how creative my students were. There were so many different designs. This hands on activity was very helpful because students visually got to see what measurement holds what capacity. For example, they clearly could see that one gallon contained four quarts or one quart contained two pints and so on. After they created their masterpieces, we proudly displayed them in the classroom.

Integrating Different Subjects
For the Earth day we had a social studies lesson on recycle. The lesson's name was "Take Care of our Planet". I used different resources for this lesson. We had geography when we looked at Google Earth, we had some math when students had to guess how long it takes for different things to decompose, and at the end they had to create a door hanger for their rooms. They had to design ways how people would care for our planet. I successfully incorporated different subjects into one lesson.

Incorporating Books Into Any Lesson
There are a lot of book that teachers can use to integrate them into any lesson. I read several books to my student to incorporate math and reading, for example. When we studied the measurements, I read a story "One Inch tall" by Shel Silverstein or "Each Orange Had 8 Slices" by Paul Giganti. My students loved them.
Here is the book where I got my "One Inch Tall" poem that I used in my math class.

Math + Writing
Sometimes when students are done earlier, they have to write in their math journals. This time they were doing a math problem. They had to create it.
