My Philosophy of Education describes my personal beliefs of how children learn and how teachers should teach.

Philosophy of Education
Education is and always will be an important part of life. Teachers have the most important job. They shape the lives of students and prepare them for the world. Anybody can be a teacher, but not everybody can be THE teacher. The one who is committed to the students and to the profession 100 percent. Children are like sand, and it’s very important what kind of footprints a teacher will leave on that sand. I chose education as my career because I want to leave only positive footprints and make even a small difference in a child’s life. I have been fortunate to be influenced by some great teachers throughout my academic career, and I know how important it is to have a good teacher.
Every child who enters a school is a genius and an important human being. Teachers should know students not only academically but also their personalities. Every student is unique and learns in a different way. I believe that all students regardless of race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, or religious background deserve education. They should fully discover themselves, their strengths and weaknesses, and benefit from it. And because we leave in a multicultural society, this type of approach would expose students to different cultures and experiences. Coming from a different backgrounds myself, I belief that I can bring my students together in a multicultural and a happy classroom. I also believe that I can learn from a child as well as he or she learns from me. Because each child is so unique and brings something different to the learning community, that it makes learning more interesting and exceptional.
I strongly agree that students should be active in the learning process. Many students learn best by engaging in real-world activities rather than just reading a textbook. I believe that teachers should prepare students for higher order thinking, to be resilient and to analyze and solve problems on their own. I believe that hands on learning is very effective during which students will remember the material better, feel a sense of accomplishment when the task is completed, and be able to transfer that experience easier to other learning situations. My favorite Chinese proverb is: I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand.
I believe that it’s important to vary methods of teaching. They should include but not limited to class and small group discussions, collaboration, brainstorming, role playing, and using guest speakers. I know that I have to be flexible and be able to adjust my style according to students’ needs. Just as I will vary my methods of teaching, I will vary my methods of evaluating my students’ performance by using different methods that might include direct observation, journaling, open-ended constructed responses, and portfolios. Since technology plays a large role in education, I will incorporate it into my classroom. It is used to benefit students of all ages in the learning process.
Education is the most important part of our lives. I like how Jean Piaget declared in 1934 that "only education is capable of saving our societies from possible collapse, whether violent, or gradual."
